How You Can Help TCNN
TCNN has an excellent reputation throughout Nigeria and fills an urgent
need to train future pastors, teachers and church leaders. However,
to carry out that mission, TCNN needs your support. There are four
main areas of giving:
- Sponsoring Scholarships: Scholarships enable motivated, but
needy, students to complete their theological training. With an average
cost of $720* per year in 2001 for a full-time student and his or her spouse,
TCNN scholarships of $100 to up to $500* per student per year allow future
pastors to concentrate on studies without undue worry about finances. Limiting
scholarships to no more than $500* per year still requires a student, his
or her family, and/or their church to contribute toward his education.
Donors may, if they wish, remain anonymous. Scholarship recipients will
be selected by a TCNN faculty committee, based upon demonstrated need and
scholarship. Donors may request regular reports on their sponsored student's
progress, and have the option to renew their support for each year that
the student remains enrolled and in good standing at TCNN.
- Capital Needs: TCNN's long-range capital development plan
includes plans for improving and expanding student housing for both single
and married students, as well as junior faculty, increasing accessibility
to technology on campus, expanding classroom space for the Women's School,
as well as other needed capital construction projects. An individual,
family or group may wish to underwrite one of these projects. Gifts
of $1,000 to $100,000* would be typical in this support category.

- Needy Student Fund: For students who may not qualify for one
of the scholarships outlined above, TCNN still wants to be able to provide
short-term assistance (normally repaid to the fund) to students who are
having trouble feeding themselves or their families, or otherwise meeting
day-to-day obligations while in school. Because this is a revolving fund,
contributions benefit needy students year after year, and gifts can be of
any size.
- Salary Support: In order to recruit and retain the
most qualified staff, TCNN seeks to pay competitive salaries. In order
to pay these competitive salaries and still keep tuition and fees low, funds
are sought to supplement the salaries of key staff positions. A donor
could fully endow a Senior Lecturer of Old or New Testament Studies, for
example, with a gift of about $70,000* (endowment estimate based on 2001
salary data).
All donors and prospective donors are urged to keep the work of the school,
the faculty, and the students in prayer. This is especially needed during
these times of unrest in Nigeria, but also at all times as they prepare
for careers in Christian pastoral leadership
Most contributions are made in either U.S. or Canadian dollars, British
pounds or Nigerian naira, but we will also work with donors from other
countries. Outside Nigeria, contact the development office at

for assistance. Contributions in Nigerian naira may be sent directly
to the school
, to the attention of the Bursar.
To learn more about ways to support the work at TCNN, or to select a
particular project for support, feel free to contact Dr. Tom Crago, TCNN
Development Officer, at
